So my mother thinks I've been drawing too much.. so I'm now not allowed on the computer for a week. In addition - this is what angers me the most and what is really hurtful - I have to ask her permission to draw(infinitely). Not only on the computer, but also in my sketchbook, or anywhere. Not that this will affect me since I can still draw at school (she can't do anything about that) and she isn't home sometimes so I can draw then, too. But what hurt my feelings the most was the fact that she said "I don't see your drawings amounting to anything" or "going anywhere" .. well thanks mom, its not like I care at all about my drawings, I just do it to pass time! - did she think this wouldn't offend me? Obviously if it were some douche at school saying this, I would brush it off; most of them just say that to hurt people. But your mother is supposed to say nice things to you. Nurture you. Even lie to you to make you feel a teensy bit better. So hearing those words from my own mom really hurt my feelings. I don't understand how this is a problem, anyway. My grades definitely do not suffer. My lowest grade for the first 9 weeks was a 95(AND I'm in advanced classes),and considering the fact that I'm on the varsity tennis team, orchestra(I got 3rd chair for All-Region!!), and also part of class/student council (plus always having to play tennis at least 12 hours a week .. on average), I feel that I should deserve some time to do what I love. Even though I know that I'm not the best at drawing, my friends always say stuff like "I wish I could draw like you," etc., (of course I appreciate that) and it makes me feel slightly better (I've told some of my close friends about what my mom said) about the situation. Of course she thinks she's doing me a favor, because she thinks drawing "all the time" leads to me being irresponsible (so I've forgotten things at home that I needed at school!) when I'm an adult. Seriously, doing this to me will only make me depressed. I always draw. Always. During classes, I find time to doodle on my paper or even in my sketchbok. During Social Studies in 8th grade, a girl was doing a powerpoint on Picasso, stating that he always drew during class and couldn't put down his sketchbook -- my teacher, along with all my classmates, glanced at me when she said this -- this, of course, boosted my confidence, which led up to the fact of what my mom said hurt even more. All the time in school, even though - trust me - my drawings were SO bad, my friends and teafchers always encouraged me. I was known as the arsty-crafty person. Of course my mom encouraged me along the way, too. But now that I look back on it, her words or encouragement seemed sarcastic/unenthusiastic. Seemingly enough, she is the same amount mad at me when I draw too much as when I watch TV. Isn't it better that I draw than watch TV? How can someone even restrict someone from drawing? (She even, at one point, got mad at me that I was reading too much... I read the five Mortal Instrument books in 4 consecutive school days.) Maybe its the fact that she thinks indulging too much in anything is bad. Well.. I guess that's true.
If you read through all this, thanks c: I've been really upset about this, and writing about it made me feel better. (Because usually I draw to release anger, but that's not an option right now)
